परिचय
हज़रत सलमान फ़ारसी, अल्लाह उनसे राज़ी हो, की दफ़नगाह इराक़ के ऐतिहासिक मदाइन क्षेत्र में स्थित शहर सलमान पाक में है। इसे उनकी मान्य मुख्य दफ़नगाह और सबसे प्रसिद्ध ज़ियारतगाह माना जाता है। इस्लामी इतिहास में उनकी ज़िंदगी इसलिए विशिष्ट है कि उन्होंने सत्य की खोज में पैतृक धर्म, वतन, आराम और कुछ समय के लिए अपनी आज़ादी तक छोड़ दी। आरंभिक रिवायतें उन्हें ईरानी देहक़ान या प्रभावशाली ज़रथुश्ती परिवार से जोड़ती हैं, लेकिन जन्मस्थान और पिता के नाम में मतभेद है; इस्फ़हान के निकट जय और रामहुरमुज़ दोनों का उल्लेख मिलता है। इस्लाम से पहले रोज़बेह नाम भी बयान किया गया है और बाद में सलमान अल-ख़ैर तथा सलमान मुहम्मदी जैसे सम्मानित नामों से याद किया गया।
सत्य की तलाश में उनका लंबा सफ़र सीरत और जीवनियों की सबसे प्रभावशाली कथाओं में है। रिवायतों के अनुसार वे अपने परिवार के ज़रथुश्ती धर्म से संतुष्ट नहीं हुए, ईसाइयों की इबादत से प्रभावित हुए और शाम के धार्मिक विद्वानों तक पहुँचने के लिए घर छोड़ दिया। वे एक राहिब से दूसरे राहिब तक गए और ज्ञान तथा ईमानदारी को परखा। शाम, मोसुल, नसीबीन और अमूरिया से गुज़रने के बाद एक नेक राहिब ने अंतिम पैग़म्बर के निकट आगमन की सूचना दी और खजूरों वाली बस्ती, सदक़ा स्वयं न खाने, तोहफ़ा स्वीकार करने और मुहर-ए-नुबुव्वत की निशानियाँ बताईं। अरब की ओर जाते समय कारवाँ वालों ने धोखा देकर उन्हें गुलाम बेच दिया, फिर भी उनकी तलाश समाप्त नहीं हुई।
यसरिब पहुँचने के बाद सलमान ने वे निशानियाँ जाँचीं जो उन्हें बताई गई थीं। उन्होंने सदक़े के रूप में भोजन दिया तो अल्लाह के रसूल, उन पर शांति और आशीर्वाद हो, ने स्वयं नहीं खाया; फिर तोहफ़ा दिया जिसे स्वीकार किया गया, और उचित अवसर पर मुहर-ए-नुबुव्वत देखी। इसके बाद उन्होंने इस्लाम स्वीकार किया। गुलामी के कारण वे बद्र और उहुद में भाग नहीं ले सके। आज़ादी के समझौते को पूरा करने में पैग़म्बर और सहाबा ने सहायता की; खजूर के पौधे लगाने और धन देने की रिवायतें दिखाती हैं कि मुस्लिम समाज ने आध्यात्मिक भाईचारे को वास्तविक मुक्ति में बदल दिया।
ख़ंदक़ की लड़ाई में उनकी सैनिक समझ ने मदीना की रक्षा में निर्णायक भूमिका निभाई। अरब में खुले मैदान का युद्ध सामान्य था, लेकिन सलमान ने ईरानी रक्षा-पद्धति के रूप में खाई खोदने का सुझाव दिया। पैग़म्बर ने इसे स्वीकार किया और सहाबा ने ठंड, भूख और घेराबंदी के बावजूद मेहनत करके खाई तैयार की। अहज़ाब की सेना सीधे मदीना में प्रवेश नहीं कर सकी। यह घटना सिखाती है कि इस्लाम किसी लाभदायक अनुभव को केवल इसलिए अस्वीकार नहीं करता कि वह दूसरी क़ौम से आया है; सही बुद्धि जहाँ भी मिले, उसे सार्वजनिक भलाई के लिए अपनाया जा सकता है।
सलमान की विरासत यात्रा और युद्ध तक सीमित नहीं रही। सहीह बुख़ारी में अबू दरदा, अल्लाह उनसे राज़ी हो, के साथ भाईचारे की प्रसिद्ध रिवायत में उन्होंने इबादत, शरीर, परिवार और मेहमान के अधिकारों के बीच संतुलन सिखाया और पैग़म्बर ने उनके निर्णय की पुष्टि की। सहीह मुस्लिम में पैग़म्बर ने ईरानी लोगों की ईमान और ज्ञान तक पहुँचने की क्षमता की प्रशंसा करते हुए सलमान की ओर संकेत किया। सलमान हम अहल अल-बैत में से हैं वाली प्रसिद्ध फ़ज़ीलत की रिवायत भी मिलती है। विद्वानों ने उसकी सनदों पर चर्चा की है, लेकिन सुन्नी और शिया स्मृति में इसका अर्थ रक्त-संबंध नहीं, बल्कि ईमान, वफ़ादारी, ज्ञान, निकटता और पैग़म्बर के परिवार से प्रेम का उच्च दर्जा है।
पैग़म्बर के निधन के बाद सलमान ज्ञान, ज़ुह्द और सार्वजनिक सेवा से जुड़े रहे। रिवायतें उमर इब्न अल-ख़त्ताब, अल्लाह उनसे राज़ी हो, के दौर में उन्हें मदाइन की ज़िम्मेदारी मिलने का उल्लेख करती हैं। बड़े पद के बावजूद जीवनियों में उनके साधारण वस्त्र, हाथ से काम करने, कम सामान रखने और अपने भत्ते का बड़ा हिस्सा ज़रूरतमंदों को देने की बातें सुरक्षित हैं। उनका आचरण बताता है कि सत्ता व्यक्तिगत प्रदर्शन नहीं, बल्कि न्याय, जवाबदेही और जनता की सेवा की अमानत है। ईरान का सांस्कृतिक अनुभव, मदीना की पैग़म्बरी शिक्षा और इराक़ की नागरिक सेवा एक ही जीवन में एकत्र हुई।
उनकी मृत्यु के वर्ष में मतभेद है और रिवायतें लगभग बत्तीस, पैंतीस या छत्तीस हिजरी बताती हैं। फिर भी मदाइन में निधन और जीवन के अंतिम चरण का इस क्षेत्र से संबंध मजबूत और निरंतर ऐतिहासिक स्मृति रखता है। आधुनिक शहर सलमान पाक उन्हीं के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है और मस्जिद तथा मक़बरे का परिसर सदियों से ज़ायरीन, विद्वानों और स्थानीय लोगों का केंद्र रहा है। वर्तमान इमारत अलग-अलग युगों की निर्माण और मरम्मत का परिणाम है; इसलिए दिखाई देने वाले हर भाग की उम्र को दफ़न की परंपरा जितना पुराना नहीं माना जा सकता, लेकिन लगातार ज़ियारत इस स्थान की पहचान को मजबूत करती है।
यह दफ़नगाह केवल क़ब्र की निशानी नहीं, बल्कि सत्य की खोज, ज्ञान का सम्मान, संस्कृतियों के उपयोगी आदान-प्रदान, इबादत में संतुलन, अहल अल-बैत से प्रेम और सेवा-आधारित शासन की याद है। ईरान से शाम, इराक़, हिजाज़ और अंततः मदाइन तक सलमान का सफ़र दिखाता है कि इस्लाम ने भाषा, नस्ल और पैतृक दर्जे से ऊपर नीयत और परहेज़गारी को महत्व दिया। अनिश्चित पारिवारिक नाम जोड़ने के बजाय ज़िम्मेदार लेखन उनके प्रमाणित चरित्र और योगदान को केंद्र बनाता है। ज़ायर के लिए सबसे गहरा संबंध यह है कि वह सलमान की दृढ़ता से सत्य खोजे, ज्ञान से समाज को लाभ दे और पद को सेवा में बदल दे।

हज़रत सलमान फ़ारसी, अल्लाह उनसे राज़ी हो, का ऐतिहासिक महत्व इसलिए असाधारण है कि उनकी जीवनी इस्लाम की विश्वव्यापकता को मानवीय कहानी में दिखाती है। वे ईरान से आए, ईसाई राहिबों से सीखा, गुलामी सहन की, मदीना में इस्लाम स्वीकार किया और सम्मानित सहाबा में शामिल हुए। उनकी ज़िंदगी पैतृक दर्जे और नस्ल से ऊपर नीयत, ज्ञान और कर्म को रखती है।

मदाइन में सेवा और ज़ाहिदाना जीवन ने उन्हें केवल सहाबी नहीं, बल्कि नैतिक प्रशासन का प्रतीक बनाया। पद पर रहते हुए सादगी और ज़रूरतमंदों को देने की रिवायतें सत्ता को विशेषाधिकार नहीं, अमानत बताती हैं। इसी कारण सुन्नी, शिया और सूफ़ी परंपराएँ सभी उनके लिए गहरा सम्मान रखती हैं।
