التعريف
مرقد الإمام علي عليه السلام في النجف من أعظم المعالم المقدسة والعلمية في العراق. يرتبط هذا الموضع بالإمام علي بن أبي طالب، ابن عم النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم وصهره، وزوج السيدة فاطمة الزهراء، ووالد الإمام الحسن والإمام الحسين، ورابع الخلفاء الراشدين في الذاكرة السنية، وأول إمام في الاعتقاد الشيعي. أصبحت النجف بسبب هذا المرقد مركزاً عظيماً للزيارة والعلم والفقه والكلام والشعر والحوزة العلمية والتربية الروحية. لذلك لا يمثل المرقد مجرد مدفن في الذاكرة الدينية، بل يمثل العلم والشجاعة والعدل والزهد والوفاء والقرب النبوي وسلطة أهل البيت الأخلاقية.
ولد الإمام علي في مكة نحو سنة 600م / حوالي ثلاث وعشرين سنة قبل الهجرة. أبوه أبو طالب بن عبد المطلب وأمه فاطمة بنت أسد. تؤكد الذاكرة الإسلامية أنه تربى في بيت النبي محمد منذ صغره، فتعلم منه اللغة والأدب والعبادة والصدق والشجاعة والأمانة. ويعد من أوائل من أسلموا، وفي التقليد الشيعي هو أول الرجال إيماناً برسالة النبي. وتجمع المصادر السنية والشيعية على إبراز قربه من النبي وإيمانه المبكر ووفائه في بداية الدعوة. ويذكره المسلمون من أوائل الذكور إسلاماً، وتعده الرواية الشيعية أول من آمن برسالة النبي من الرجال، فكان شاهداً قريباً على نشأة الدعوة.
في المرحلة المكية وقف الإمام علي مع النبي في وقت الضعف والاضطهاد. ويرتبط حدث ليلة المبيت، حين نام علي في فراش النبي عند الهجرة، في كتب التفسير والمناقب بالآية 2:207 التي تذكر من يبيع نفسه ابتغاء مرضاة الله. وبعد الهجرة إلى المدينة صار من الرجال المركزيين في المجتمع الإسلامي الجديد. وتزوج السيدة فاطمة الزهراء، ويؤرخ ذلك غالباً بسنة 2هـ. ويذكر بيتهما بوصفه بيت البساطة والمحبة والخدمة والعبادة والصبر والقناعة وطلب رضا الله. وأصبح أولادهما الحسن والحسين وزينب وأم كلثوم، ومعهم المحسن في بعض الروايات، قلب ذاكرة البيت النبوي. وتؤرخ زواجه من السيدة فاطمة غالباً بسنة ٢هـ، ويذكر البيت بما فيه من بساطة ومحبة وخدمة وعبادة وفقر مع كرامة.
شارك الإمام علي في معظم غزوات النبي الكبرى، باستثناء تبوك، حيث أبقاه النبي في المدينة وقال له في حديث المنزلة إن منزلته منه كمنزلة هارون من موسى إلا أنه لا نبي بعده. حضر بدراً وأحداً والخندق وخيبر وحنيناً وغيرها. وفي خيبر أعلن النبي أنه سيعطي الراية لرجل يحب الله ورسوله ويحبه الله ورسوله، ثم أعطاها لعلي؛ وقد حفظت هذه الرواية في كتب الحديث الكبرى. وفي الخندق صار موقفه أمام عمرو بن عبد ود رمزاً للشجاعة في كتب السيرة والفضائل. وفي الخندق صار قتاله لعمرو بن عبد ود من أشهر صور الشجاعة في كتب السيرة والفضائل.
ومن الأحداث المركزية في ذاكرته حدث غدير خم. بعد حجة الوداع روي في مصادر الحديث، ومنها جامع الترمذي، قول النبي: من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه. حفظ المسلمون هذا الحديث على نطاق واسع، مع اختلاف المدارس في تفسير دلالته الكلامية والسياسية. أما في قاعدة بيانات محايدة فالمهم أنه يثبت منزلة علي وقربه ووجوب محبته ونصرته واحترامه. وتربط كتب التفسير والمناقب عدداً من الآيات بفضائل علي وأهل البيت، منها 2:207، 3:61، 5:3، 5:55، 5:67، 33:33، 42:23، و76:8-9؛ وتختلف الكتب في العدد الكلي للآيات، لذلك يذكر هنا أشهر أرقام الآيات بدل ادعاء رقم قطعي. ولهذا يثبت العرض المحايد مكانته وقربه ووجوب محبته واحترامه، من غير فرض تفسير كلامي واحد على المسلمين.
تشكل حياته الأسرية جزءاً أساسياً من تاريخ أهل البيت. كانت صلته بالسيدة فاطمة مثالاً للمحبة والحياء والخدمة والعبادة والوقار في الفقر والإخلاص الديني. وبعد وفاتها تزوج لاحقاً نساء أخريات تذكرهن كتب النسب، منهن أم البنين فاطمة بنت حزام، وخولة بنت جعفر الحنفية، وأسماء بنت عميس، وليلى بنت مسعود، وغيرهن. وكان من أولاده العباس وجعفر وعبد الله وعثمان ومحمد بن الحنفية وعمر ورقية وغيرهم. وصارت ذريته ووراثته العلمية والروحية عبر الحسن والحسين وأئمة أهل البيت من أهم محاور التاريخ الإسلامي. ومن أولاده أيضاً العباس وجعفر وعبد الله وعثمان ومحمد بن الحنفية وعمر ورقية وغيرهم ممن أثرت ذريتهم في التاريخ العلمي والروحي.
من الناحية العلمية ذكر الإمام علي بوصفه باب العلم، وعالماً بالقرآن، وصاحب قضاء وفتوى، وإماماً في الفصاحة العربية، ومصدراً للحكمة الروحية والعدل. ومن الآخذين عنه الإمام الحسن، والإمام الحسين، وعبد الله بن عباس، وكميل بن زياد، وميثم التمار، والأصبغ بن نباتة، والحارث الهمداني، وأبو الأسود الدؤلي، وكثير من المسلمين الأوائل. وقد حفظت مجموعات لاحقة مثل نهج البلاغة خطباً ورسائل وحكماً منسوبة إليه، وفيها مادة واسعة عن العدل والحكم والزهد والتقوى وحقوق الناس ومحاسبة الولاة. وتحفظ الرسائل والحكم المنسوبة إليه موضوعات حقوق الناس وأمانة الولاة والزهد ومراقبة الله.
تولى الإمام علي الخلافة سنة 35هـ / 656م بعد مقتل عثمان بن عفان. كان عهده محاطاً بأزمة سياسية عميقة، ومطالب بالقصاص، وتوترات قبلية، وتنازع في السلطة. ومن أهم حروب عهده الجمل قرب البصرة، وصفين، والنهروان ضد الخوارج. واتخذ الكوفة مركزاً لحكمه، واشتهرت رسائله إلى الولاة والعمال بالتأكيد على العدل والأمانة وحماية بيت المال وحقوق الضعفاء ومسؤولية الحاكم أمام الله. لذلك يذكر حكمه نموذجاً للحكم الأخلاقي في ظروف سياسية شديدة الصعوبة. وصارت رسائله إلى العمال نموذجاً في حماية الضعفاء وصيانة بيت المال وربط السلطة بالمسؤولية الأخلاقية.
وقعت شهادته في الكوفة في رمضان سنة 40هـ / 661م. ضربه عبد الرحمن بن ملجم، وهو من الخوارج، بسيف مسموم في مسجد الكوفة عند صلاة الفجر، وتؤرخ الضربة غالباً في 19 رمضان، وتوفي في 21 رمضان. كانت الظروف آنذاك متأثرة بما بعد الحروب الداخلية، ونشاط الخوارج، واستمرار النزاع مع معاوية. وتذكر الذاكرة التاريخية والدينية أنه أوصى بالعدل حتى مع قاتله ونهى عن تجاوز الحد في الانتقام. وظل موضع دفنه في الذاكرة المبكرة محفوظاً بسرية، ثم صارت النجف المركز المعروف لمرقده وزيارته. وتذكر الذاكرة الدينية أنه أمر بالعدل مع قاتله ونهى عن الانتقام المتجاوز، ثم حفظ موضع قبره بسرية قبل اشتهار النجف.
صار مرقد الإمام علي عليه السلام في النجف عبر القرون مقصداً للعلماء والفقهاء والشعراء والزهاد والحكام وعامة المؤمنين. وحفظت ذاكرة الزيارة الأولى موضع القبر بحذر، ثم جعلت الأبنية والترميمات المتعاقبة المكان حرماً عظيماً ظاهراً. وتذكر الرواية الرسمية لتاريخ المرقد قبة بارزة سنة ٢٨٣هـ ومراحل لاحقة من البناء والتوسعة على أيدي دول إسلامية ورعاة متعددين. ويضم المجمع الحاضر القبة المذهبة والصحون والأواوين والمكتبات والمدارس ومرافق الخدمة وقبور العلماء. ونشأ حوله أحد أهم مراكز العلم الإسلامي، وهو حوزة النجف. ويأتي الزائرون للسلام والدعاء وقراءة الفاتحة والتأمل في العدل والارتباط بأهل البيت. ويمثل المرقد اجتماع القرابة النبوية والتاريخ الإسلامي المبكر والارتباط القرآني والحكمة الفقهية والشجاعة الروحية والعمارة والذاكرة الطويلة للحضارة الإسلامية.

ويحفظ الموضع ذاكرة العدل والشجاعة والعلم وحقوق الناس. وقد أثرت سيرة الإمام في الأخلاق السياسية الإسلامية والقضاء والعدالة الاجتماعية.
وتجعل العمارة والمكتبات والمدارس وقبور العلماء الحرم معلما كبيرا من التراث الإسلامي.
