آرامگاه سید حمزه بن قاسم، مشهور به حمزه غربی، رحمت خدا بر او باد، در مدحتیهِ استان بابل و در جنوب شهر حله قرار دارد. این مکان مدفن اصلی و شناختهشده یکی از عالمان علوی سده سوم هجری است که نسبش به عباس بن علی، درود خدا بر او، میرسد. خود شهر نیز به نام حمزه غربی شهرت یافته و این امر نشاندهنده تأثیر آرامگاه بر هویت دینی و شهری منطقه است.
کتابهای نسب و رجال نام او را ابویعلی حمزه بن قاسم بن علی بن حمزه بن حسن بن عبیدالله بن عباس بن علی بن ابیطالب ثبت کردهاند. او از شاخه علویِ نسل علمدار کربلا بود. جایگاهش تنها بر نسب استوار نبود؛ نجاشی او را فردی موثق، بلندمرتبه، از دانشوران امامی و بسیار پرروایت معرفی کرده است.
آثار منسوب به او گستره کار علمیاش را نشان میدهد: کتابی درباره راویان امام جعفر صادق، درود خدا بر او، اثری در توحید، کتاب زیارات و مناسک، و نوشتهای در رد محمد بن جعفر اسدی. این عنوانها او را در شکلگیری دانش رجال، عقیده، فقه زیارت و حفظ روایت جای میدهند.
علی بن محمد قلانسـی و هارون بن موسی تلعکبری از کسانیاند که با نقل علمی او پیوند دارند. حضور نامش در فهرستها و منابع رجالی نشان میدهد که او بخشی از یک شبکه واقعی دانش بود و تنها نام یک زیارتگاه محلی نیست. خدمت او به اهل بیت در ثبت راویان، سنجش خبرها و سامان دادن دانش عبادی جلوه یافت.
نسبت قبر به منطقه جنوب حله از دیرباز شهرت داشته است. تاریخهای محلی متأخر میگویند او هنگام عبور از این ناحیه درگذشت و در جایی دفن شد که بعدها به آرامگاه بزرگ تبدیل گردید. جزئیات سفر در سنت محلی محفوظ است، اما اصل شهرت قبر در میان عالمان و مردم عراق سابقهای طولانی دارد. نام حمزه غربی نیز این شهر را از حمزه شرقی جدا میکند.
مجموعه کنونی محل نماز، زیارت، مجالس دینی و خدمت به زائران است. اهمیت آن هم شخصی و هم جغرافیایی است: یاد یک محدث و رجالی علوی، نسل عباس بن علی، و تاریخ سورا و مدحتیه در بابل را در یک مکان گرد میآورد.
زندگی او میآموزد که نسب گرامی با دانش، امانت و عمل معنا پیدا میکند. محبت اهل بیت تنها احساس نیست، بلکه حفظ روایت، شناخت راوی و آموختن درست عبادت را نیز دربر میگیرد. آرامگاه حمزه غربی همچنان مرکز مهم پیوند نسب، علم و زیارت است.

اهمیت تاریخی / دینی
آرامگاه، حافظه نسبی عباس بن علی را به تاریخ مستند حدیث و رجال امامی پیوند میدهد. حمزه بن قاسم تنها یک جد علوی یا قدیس محلی نیست، بلکه مؤلف و راویای است که آثارش در سنجش و سامان دادن دانش دینی نقش داشت.
اثر آرامگاه بر نام و هویت مدحتیه نشان میدهد که یک زیارتگاه چگونه میتواند زندگی شهری را شکل دهد. مجموعه، جغرافیای کهن سورا و بابل را به زیارت و خدمت عمومی امروز متصل میکند.
از نظر پژوهشی، نسب، دانش و زیارت مردمی باید کنار هم اما جدا از یکدیگر خوانده شوند. رجال کهن شخصیت علمی را تأیید میکند و تاریخ محلی متأخر، تدفین و گسترش آرامگاه را توضیح میدهد.
پیام پایدار مکان این است که حفظ روایت معتبر نوعی خدمت است و محبت اهل بیت با دانش، ثبت و اخلاق نیک کامل میشود.

Al-Najashi and later rijal works support the full Abbasid-Alid lineage, trustworthiness, prolific transmission, named works and scholarly network. Official Iraqi tourism and Hillah heritage sources support the present shrine in Al-Madhatiya, Babil, including its architectural and civic importance. The detailed death journey and a reported date around 295 AH belong to later local history and are not presented as equal to the classical rijal evidence. The uploaded coordinates remain preserved; the canonical city spelling was normalized from Al-Midhatiya to Al-Madhatiya in all five languages.
