परिचय
अल-मुसैय्यिब में स्थित यह ज़ियारतगाह सैयद महदी से संबद्ध है, जिन्हें स्थानीय परंपरा इमाम मूसा काज़िम अलैहिस्सलाम का पुत्र बताती है। उपलब्ध आरंभिक वंशावली स्रोत इस स्थान को निश्चित दफ़नगाह सिद्ध नहीं करते और संबद्ध व्यक्ति की स्वतंत्र पहचान पर भी एकमत नहीं हैं। इसलिए इसे इमाम के परिवार से संबद्ध स्थानीय मज़ार के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया गया है।
इमाम मूसा काज़िम अलैहिस्सलाम का ज्ञान, इबादत, धैर्य और बग़दाद में क़ैद का इतिहास मान्य स्रोतों में सुरक्षित है और उनकी प्रसिद्ध मुख्य दफ़नगाह काज़िमैन में है। उनकी संतान की सूचियों में कुछ अंतर मिलता है। महदी नामक किसी विशेष पुत्र और इस अल-मुसैय्यिब स्थान पर उनके दफ़्न होने की आरंभिक स्वतंत्र पुष्टि उपलब्ध नहीं, इसलिए पूरी वंशावली, मृत्यु की तिथि या राजनीतिक कथा निश्चित रूप से नहीं दी गई।
इस जगह की स्पष्ट वर्तमान महत्ता अल-मुसैय्यिब और बाबिल के ज़ियारती भूगोल में है। मध्य इराक़ में काज़िमैन, करबला और बाबिल के बीच अनेक छोटे मज़ार स्थानीय परिवारों, धार्मिक सभाओं और अहल अल-बैत से संबंध की स्मृति सुरक्षित रखते हैं। यह ज़ियारतगाह भी उसी व्यापक मूसवी परिदृश्य का हिस्सा है।
आगंतुक को इमाम मूसा काज़िम अलैहिस्सलाम के प्रमाणित जीवन और काज़िमैन के मुख्य रौज़े को इस स्थानीय दफ़न परंपरा से अलग समझना चाहिए। स्थान के सम्मान और शोध की शुद्धता, दोनों के लिए प्रमाण के इन दो स्तरों को अलग रखना आवश्यक है।

अल-मुसैय्यिब का यह मज़ार मूसवी सादात और अहल अल-बैत से संबद्ध स्थानीय ज़ियारती भूगोल का हिस्सा है। इसकी अधिक विश्वसनीय महत्ता निश्चित जीवनी के बजाय निरंतर संबंध, ज़ियारत और मध्य इराक़ के धार्मिक मार्गों में है।
