Shrine of Sayyid Talib al-Mukaffal, May Allah Have Mercy On Him
IRQ-0175
Introduction
This shrine is known locally as the resting place of Sayyid Talib al-Mukaffal, May Allah Have Mercy On Him, in Sayyid Talib Village on the Al-Diwaniyah–Najaf road, within Al-Shafiiyah, Al-Qadisiyyah. It is a local grave and place of visitation, but the available evidence does not establish it as the burial place of Muhammad al-Abid, son of Imam Musa al-Kazim, Peace Be Upon Him.
The previous article contained a developed biography of Muhammad al-Abid, including his night worship and family. That biography concerns a well-known historical person, but the location page previously cited describes another shrine southeast of Karbala near al-Hindiyah, not the coordinates of this village. Combining the two sites under one identity was therefore not supported.
A geographical study from Al-Qadisiyyah University lists the Shrine of Sayyid Talib among the religious sites of Al-Shafiiyah. The village of Sayyid Talib is also recognized on the road between Al-Diwaniyah and Najaf. These sources support the present place, village and shrine name, but they do not supply a complete genealogy for the person buried here.
The local name is Sayyid Talib al-Mukaffal. The origin of the epithet, his parents, period, children and any precise Imamzada lineage are not clearly established in reliable written evidence. The row is therefore classified as an unidentified local shrine, and no person code or family chain has been assigned.
The connection between village and shrine is itself important: the settlement carries the same name, and the grave, village, road, mosque life and inherited community memory together form a local religious geography.
For visitors, it remains a respected local shrine for prayer and recitation. For researchers, the key correction is not to transfer the well-sourced biography of Muhammad al-Abid to this site unless independent evidence proves that Sayyid Talib al-Mukaffal and Muhammad ibn Musa al-Kazim are the same person.
Historical / Religious Importance
The shared name of village and shrine is important in the local religious geography of Al-Shafiiyah and the Al-Diwaniyah–Najaf road.
The research value of this row lies in correcting a mistaken identity merger: the Sayyid Talib Village shrine has been separated from the Muhammad al-Abid shrine near Karbala.
Reliable local documents, an inscription or genealogical research are still required to establish the identity and lineage of the person buried here.

The Al-Qadisiyyah University study explicitly lists the Shrine of Sayyid Talib in Al-Shafiiyah among the governorate's religious sites. The official electoral-constituency listing and the village reference corroborate Sayyid Talib Village within the Al-Shafiiyah administrative area and the local geographic identity. None of these sources supplies a complete genealogy or identifies the buried person as Muhammad al-Abid ibn Imam Musa al-Kazim. The earlier Muhammad al-Abid references described a different shrine near Karbala and were correctly removed. The identity and lineage of Sayyid Talib al-Mukaffal therefore remain Under Review.
