परिचय

दियाला प्रांत के ख़ानक़ीन में बावा जलील या बाबा जलील के नाम से प्रसिद्ध यह मज़ार वास्तविक और जीवित स्थानीय ज़ियारत-स्थल है, लेकिन इससे संबद्ध व्यक्ति की ऐतिहासिक पहचान सुरक्षित रूप से सिद्ध नहीं हुई। वर्तमान इमारत, उसका प्रचलित नाम और लगातार जन-उपयोग दर्ज किया जा सकता है, पर उपलब्ध प्रमाण पूरा व्यक्तिगत नाम, युग, वंश या निश्चित धार्मिक पद सिद्ध नहीं करते। यारसान परंपराओं पर आधुनिक विश्वविद्यालयी शोध बाबा जलील नामक एक व्यक्तित्व और उनसे संबद्ध धार्मिक चक्र या कलाम का उल्लेख करता है। वही शोध इस बात पर भी बल देता है कि उस व्यक्तित्व के बारे में बहुत कम ऐतिहासिक सूचना बची है। इसलिए केवल समान नाम के आधार पर ख़ानक़ीन के मज़ार वाले व्यक्ति को उसी यारसान व्यक्तित्व के साथ निश्चित रूप से एक नहीं माना जा सकता। कोई शिलालेख, वक़्फ़नामा, प्राचीन जीवनी या स्वतंत्र रूप से प्रमाणित स्थानीय अभिलेख नहीं मिला जो ख़ानक़ीन की इमारत को विश्वविद्यालयी साहित्य में वर्णित बाबा जलील से सीधे जोड़ता हो। इसलिए अभिलेख में कोई सूफ़ी सिलसिला, वंशावली, तारीख़, करामत या शिक्षक-शिष्य संबंध नहीं गढ़ा गया और संरचित व्यक्ति-खाने खाली रखे गए हैं। ज़ायर के लिए यह मज़ार ख़ानक़ीन के स्थानीय पवित्र भूगोल और सामुदायिक स्मृति का भाग है। शोधकर्ता के लिए यह उदाहरण है कि जीवित धार्मिक स्थल को सम्मानपूर्वक दर्ज किया जा सकता है, जबकि उससे जुड़े व्यक्ति की पहचान विचाराधीन रहे। भविष्य में शिलालेख, अभिलेखीय दस्तावेज़ या सेवकों की विश्वसनीय गवाही अधिक दृढ़ पहचान दे सकती है।

मज़ार का महत्व ख़ानक़ीन के स्थानीय ज़ियारती परिदृश्य और सामुदायिक स्मृति के बचे हुए भाग के रूप में है। इसका शोध-मूल्य स्थान को सुरक्षित रखने में है, बिना संभावित नाम-समानता को प्रमाणित जीवनी बनाए। दफ़न व्यक्ति को अनिश्चित रखना गढ़ी हुई वंशावली और साम्प्रदायिक वर्गीकरण से बचाता है तथा भविष्य के शिलालेखीय या अभिलेखीय प्रमाण के लिए मार्ग खुला रखता है।
