परिचय
सुलेमानियाह में यह क़ब्र इब्राहीम अहमद—लेखक, क़ानूनविद, पत्रकार और राजनीतिक नेता—की नागरिक स्मृति का स्थल है, न कि पारंपरिक सूफ़ी ज़ियारतगाह। इब्राहीम अहमद का जन्म 1914 में सुलेमानियाह में हुआ, उन्होंने बग़दाद विश्वविद्यालय में क़ानून पढ़ा और वकील तथा न्यायाधीश के रूप में कार्य किया।
1939 में उन्होंने अलाउद्दीन सजादी के साथ कुर्दी साहित्यिक पत्रिका गेलावेज़ की स्थापना और संपादन किया। इस पत्रिका ने आधुनिक कुर्दी गद्य, आलोचना, कहानी और बौद्धिक विमर्श के विकास में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई और अहमद को कुर्द साहित्यिक पत्रकारिता के निर्माणकारी व्यक्तित्वों में स्थान दिया।
उनके जीवन का बड़ा भाग कुर्द राजनीतिक आंदोलन से जुड़ा रहा। दलगत नेतृत्व, कारावास, राजनीतिक और सशस्त्र संघर्ष तथा बाद में लंदन का निर्वासन उनके लेखन को सामूहिक जीवन, राष्ट्रीय पहचान और राजनीतिक अन्याय के अनुभव से जोड़ता है।
उनका सबसे प्रसिद्ध उपन्यास जानी गेल 1956 में लिखा गया और 1972 में कुर्दी में प्रकाशित हुआ। साहित्यिक शोध इसे आधुनिक कुर्दी उपन्यास और सामाजिक यथार्थवाद की महत्त्वपूर्ण कृति मानता है, जिसमें एक व्यक्ति की कथा को कुर्द समाज के राजनीतिक और सामाजिक दुख से जोड़ा गया है।
इब्राहीम अहमद का निधन 8 अप्रैल 2000 को लंदन में हुआ। सुलेमानियाह में उनकी क़ब्र उनके साहित्यिक और राजनीतिक योगदान की स्मृति सुरक्षित रखती है, जबकि इब्राहीम अहमद फ़ाउंडेशन और एक्सेटर विश्वविद्यालय में कुर्दी अध्ययन को मिले उसके समर्थन ने इस बौद्धिक स्मृति को अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर तक पहुँचाया है।

इब्राहीम अहमद आधुनिक कुर्दी साहित्य में आधारभूत महत्त्व रखते हैं क्योंकि उन्होंने साहित्यिक पत्रकारिता, कथा और उपन्यास को सामाजिक तथा राजनीतिक अनुभव से जोड़ा। गेलावेज़ और जानी गेल ने कुर्दी में आधुनिक बौद्धिक और कथात्मक अभिव्यक्ति की संभावनाओं को विस्तृत किया।
