مسجد نبی شیث در موصل، مسجدی تاریخی و مقام منسوب به شیث بن آدم، درود خدا بر او، است و نمیتوان آن را آرامگاه قطعی دانست. سنت قصصی اسلامی او را فرزند صالح آدم و حوا، وارث هدایت و آموزگار نسلهای نخستین بشر میشناسد. نام او به صراحت در قرآن نیامده و مکانهای گوناگونی در مناطق مختلف به او منسوب شدهاند.
ابن کثیر، طبری و دیگر تاریخنگاران، گزارشهایی درباره معنای هبةالله، وصیت آدم به شیث، آموزش عبادت و ادامه نسل بشر نقل کردهاند. برخی روایات از صحیفههای او سخن میگویند، اما درجه اعتبار آنها یکسان نیست. از این رو صفحه نسبت سنتی به آدم و حوا را حفظ میکند و از جزئیات بیمدرک درباره فرزندان، سفر، وفات و دفن دوری مینماید.
مسجد در محله نبی شیث در غرب موصل و بیرون دروازههای شهر تاریخی، عبادتگاه و زیارتگاهی شناختهشده بود. مجموعه مستند عثمانی در سالهای هزار و هشتصد و پانزده تا هزار و هشتصد و شانزده با حمایت احمد پاشا بن سلیمان پاشا جلیلی ساخته شد و مسجد، بنای زیارتی و کارکرد مدرسه دینی داشت. مسجد و مناره تازهای که در دهههای هزار و نهصد و هفتاد و هزار و نهصد و هشتاد ساخته شدند، بخش بزرگی از بافت قدیمی را جایگزین کردند. هویت مکان نام محله را شکل داد و حافظه محلی را با خاندان آدم، آغاز تاریخ انسان و تعلیم توحید پیوند زد.
در روزهای پایانی ژوئیه سال دو هزار و چهارده، داعش مسجد و مقام منسوب را با انفجار ویران کرد. آسیب تنها به ساختمان نرسید، بلکه حافظه دینی و معماری محله را نیز هدف گرفت. پس از آزادی موصل، مردم و نهادهای خیریه از بازسازی پشتیبانی کردند؛ کارهای اصلی در سالهای دو هزار و بیست و دو و دو هزار و بیست و سه پایان یافت و گزارشهای کنونی از بازگشت نمازگزاران خبر میدهند.
بنای تازه زندگی عبادی را بازمیگرداند، اما جای همه عناصر تاریخی از دسترفته را نمیگیرد. عکسها، اسناد وقف، مدارک اوقاف سنی، گزارشهای معماری و خاطرات مردم برای پژوهش آینده ضروریاند. هویت تاریخی مسجد روشن است، ولی نسبت قبر به شیث همچنان در حال بررسی است.
برای زائر، مکان یادآور آغاز مشترک خانواده انسانی، امانت هدایت میان والدین و فرزندان و انتقال نیکی به نسلهای بعد است. برای موصل، مسجد نبی شیث نماد زنده کردن میراث ویرانشده با تلاش جمعی و حفظ تاریخ است.
اهمیت تاریخی / دینی
مسجد نبی شیث بخشی مهم از جغرافیای دینی و هویت محلهای موصل است، زیرا نام مسجد و محله نسلها در کنار هم حفظ شدهاند.
ویرانی در سال دو هزار و چهارده و بازسازی پس از آن، مسجد را به نمونهای از نابودی فرهنگی، پایداری شهری و اقدام خیریه محلی تبدیل کرده است.
