A 2026 University of Babylon study documents Borsippa in Islamic sources and the local Abraham shrine and birthplace tradition. World Monuments Fund material independently identifies Borsippa as the ancient city of Nabu's Ezida temple and notes the nearby Abraham shrine; a modern archaeological travel account likewise records the local tradition. These sources support the existence and interpretation of the maqam, not archaeological proof that the exact chamber was Ibrahim's birthplace or that the ziggurat was the furnace. This is a secondary attributed place, not a burial.
