Notes: Page/Volume: Sermon 33, Dhi Qar sandal account; numbering varies by edition | Classical histories support Imam Ali's presence in the Dhi Qar region and the movement toward Basra before the Battle of the Camel. Nahj al-Balagha preserves the sandal account in the wider Dhi Qar setting, but no early source examined here identifies the present al-Mansuriyah chamber. The Southern Heritage Center places the maqam about three kilometres west of the local centre and around 550 metres from the Euphrates, repeats the fifteen-day encampment and Kufa-reinforcement tradition, and documents a small neglected chamber before 2003 and a later precinct of about 2,500 square metres. A 2022 report documents continuing public visitation to the Mosque or Maqam of Imam Ali's Step in al-Mansuriyah. The site is a secondary attributed place, not a grave; Imam Ali's recognized principal burial is in Najaf.
