Purpose of Community Contributions
Visitors may help improve accuracy without replacing the research process.
Local residents, pilgrims, researchers, families, photographers and visitors may hold useful information that is absent from published books or difficult to confirm remotely. Contributions can reveal a corrected road, a changed entrance, a new signboard, a reconstruction, an alternative name, a missing reference, a damaged structure or a more precise coordinate.
A public contribution is treated as research input. It does not become an accepted historical fact, public comment, gallery image or map correction merely because it was submitted. Every contribution remains subject to relevance, evidence, safety and editorial review.
The project welcomes evidence and respectful local knowledge, but publication decisions remain evidence-based and independent.
What Visitors May Submit
Different submission types serve different research needs.
Corrections
Names, spellings, biographies, genealogy, site type, translations, references, categories or other factual issues.
GPS and location evidence
Corrected coordinates, entrance points, map links, landmark descriptions, access notes or field observations.
Photographs
Current shrine images, signboards, entrances, architectural details, restoration, damage or historically relevant visual evidence.
Comments and context
Respectful observations, local terminology, recent conditions or concise contextual notes connected to a specific record.
References
Books, articles, institutional pages, archival material, official notices or other traceable sources.
Language improvements
Corrections that improve equivalence, script, transliteration or clarity in Urdu, English or Arabic.
What Makes a Contribution Useful
Specific, traceable information can be reviewed more effectively.
- Identify the shrine by its permanent code, page URL or exact displayed name.
- State clearly what is wrong, missing, outdated or potentially misleading.
- Provide a book title, page number, map link, photograph, signboard, field date or other supporting evidence where possible.
- Explain whether the information was personally observed, inherited locally, copied from another source or inferred from a map.
- For coordinates, identify whether the point marks the entrance, main structure, grave enclosure, mosque, memorial or wider complex.
- For language corrections, preserve the historical meaning rather than replacing it with a literal but inaccurate translation.
- Submit one clear issue at a time when several unrelated changes would be difficult to review together.
Photograph and Gallery Rules
Images are evidence and public content, so permission and context matter.
A submitted image may be shown to the contributor as successfully uploaded or pending, but it remains private from the public gallery until an administrator approves it. Approval may include caption editing, source clarification, resizing, metadata removal, duplicate checking and placement in the relevant shrine gallery.
- Submit only an image you created, are authorized to share, or can lawfully provide under a clear licence.
- Do not upload private documents, identity cards, personal addresses, confidential correspondence or unrelated family photographs.
- Avoid images that expose vulnerable individuals, private ceremonies or restricted interiors without permission.
- Provide the approximate date, location, photographer or source credit when known.
- Do not add misleading watermarks, fabricated labels, manipulated coordinates or edits that change the historical meaning of the image.
- The project may crop, resize, convert or compress an approved image for accessibility, performance and consistent presentation.
- Approval does not transfer ownership; attribution and permitted use depend on the information supplied by the contributor.
An upload confirmation means the file reached the review system. It does not mean the image has been accepted or published.
Moderation and Review Process
Submissions are screened before they affect a public record.
Submission received
The system records the shrine, submission type, time and available contributor details, then marks the item pending.
Safety and relevance screening
Spam, malware, abusive language, unrelated material, unsafe personal data and obvious copyright problems are removed or restricted.
Evidence review
The proposed information is compared with the existing record, sources, maps, photographs and other relevant evidence.
Editorial decision
The item may be approved, partially used, held for more evidence, rejected, marked as spam or retained internally without public display.
Public update where justified
An approved contribution may update a field, add a note, appear in the gallery or support a later revision. The contributor may be credited when requested and appropriate.
Respectful Conduct and Prohibited Material
The contribution system is for research improvement, not conflict or promotion.
The project may restrict repeated automated submissions, duplicate messages, abusive accounts or IP addresses that attempt to misuse the contribution system. Moderation decisions are made to protect research quality, contributors and visitors.

Credit, Copyright and Reuse
Useful contributions should be attributed without creating false ownership claims.
- A contributor may request public credit by name for an approved original photograph or substantial field contribution.
- Contact details are used for review and clarification and are not published as credit unless explicitly requested and appropriate.
- Quotations, scans and third-party images must include enough source information to evaluate lawful use and attribution.
- Submitting material does not guarantee that it will be published, permanently retained or used in the exact wording supplied.
- The project may summarize evidence, correct formatting and translate approved information while preserving its meaning.
- A contributor should not submit material that would require the project to misrepresent authorship, licence or historical certainty.
Contributor Privacy
Only the information necessary for review should be collected and retained.
A name, email address or other contact detail may be requested so an editor can clarify a submission. Such details are not displayed on the shrine page by default. Technical information such as an IP address, time, browser session or moderation status may be retained to prevent spam, protect the service and maintain an audit trail.
Contributors should avoid placing private personal information inside captions, comments or evidence notes. More detail about collection, retention, cookies and user choices is provided in the Privacy Policy.
Where credit is appropriate, the contributor may be identified by a chosen public name. Private contact information remains separate from the public credit line.
Possible Review Outcomes
A submission may help the project even when it is not published exactly as received.
Approved
The image, comment, correction, source or location evidence is accepted for public use.
Partially used
A supported portion is used while unsupported wording or unrelated material is omitted.
More evidence needed
The submission remains pending because the claim cannot yet be verified.
Internal research note
The material is useful for future review but is not suitable for immediate public display.
Alternative tradition recorded
The contribution supports a distinct attributed tradition that should be explained rather than used to overwrite another site.
Rejected or spam
The item is irrelevant, unsafe, abusive, deceptive, duplicated or unsupported.
