Peshawar
Peshawar is the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and an ancient city near historic routes between South and Central Asia. Its urban history contains Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, Sikh and colonial layers, while proximity to the Khyber Pass has deeply influenced trade, migration and political history.
This page separates modern Peshawar city and district from ancient sites, mosques, shrines and personal records in both place and time. An archaeological identification or the religious attribution of a grave is not treated as certain from local fame alone; material evidence, written history and visitation tradition are presented as distinct evidence streams.
