Okara

Okara is a Punjab district city that developed as an organized urban center after the expansion of canal irrigation in the early twentieth century. It became a tehsil headquarters in 1918, and Okara District was created in 1982; this urban history differs from that of older nearby towns.

This page does not treat Okara city, Okara District and surrounding towns as interchangeable. A shrine or historical person must be linked to the correct settlement and coordinates, especially for places nearer Satghara, Depalpur or Shergarh.
