Kot Mithan

Kot Mithan is a historic town in Rajanpur District. Official district history records that a major Indus flood devastated the old town in 1856 and led to the transfer of the tehsil headquarters to Rajanpur; its setting is therefore inseparable from the riverine geography of the region.

The town is also known for the tomb of Saraiki Sufi poet Khwaja Ghulam Farid, registered by Pakistan’s archaeology department as a protected historic monument. The documented literary life of the poet, the surviving building and later devotional claims should be read as distinct subjects supported by different kinds of evidence.
