Makli

Makli is a vast historic necropolis and UNESCO World Heritage property near Thatta, not a separate modern city in the ordinary sense. UNESCO describes a cemetery spread across roughly ten square kilometres with numerous monuments to rulers, scholars, Sufis and others from the fourteenth through eighteenth centuries.

No famous tomb, buried person or devotional attribution is treated as synonymous with the entire Makli necropolis. IslamicPedia links each building, inscription, dynasty or period and personal identification to separate evidence, while ongoing threats from weathering, encroachment and conservation needs remain essential context for the site.
