Notes: Article role: SECONDARY ATTRIBUTED PLACE / BURIAL NOT PROVEN. Classical sources establish Utba's early Islam, migrations, Badr, foundation and first governorship of Basra, ascetic sermon and death in 17 AH while travelling after Umar ordered him back to office. Abu Nu'aym's biographical material preserves reports that he was buried at one of the water stations, with another report naming al-Rabadha; neither supports burial in the present Al-Zubayr mosque complex.
