Several strong hadith routes preserve prophetic prayers for the young Abdullah ibn Abbas, but they must not be collapsed into one reconstructed scene. In Sahih al-Bukhari, one embrace report asks Allah to teach him wisdom, while closely related Bukhari wordings ask Allah to teach him the Book. In a separate water-related setting, Bukhari and Sahih Muslim preserve a prayer for understanding in religion. A fuller Musnad Ahmad route adds a prayer that Allah teach him interpretation. A later Sahih al-Bukhari report then shows Umar publicly recognizing Ibn Abbas’s exceptional Qur’anic insight among senior Companions.

Sahih Muslim 2491 preserves a deeply personal answered prayer. Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه repeatedly invited his mother to Islam, but she refused. One day she said something about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that distressed him, so he came to the Prophet weeping and asked him to pray for her guidance. The Prophet ﷺ prayed, “O Allah, guide the mother of Abu Hurairah.” Abu Hurairah returned home hopeful and soon heard his mother prepare herself before opening the door and declaring the two testimonies of faith. He then returned to the Prophet ﷺ weeping again—this time from joy—and announced that Allah had answered the supplication.

During a military expedition, Jabir ibn Abdullah was falling behind because his camel had become slow and exhausted. Sahih al-Bukhari reports that Prophet Muhammad came to him, asked what was wrong, dismounted, prodded the camel with his stick, and told Jabir to ride again. The change was immediate: the camel became so fast that Jabir had to restrain it from going ahead of the Prophet. Parallel reports in Sahih Muslim independently preserve the same reversal and explicitly add the Prophet’s prayer, with Jabir describing the camel afterward as restored by the grace of that prayer.

Umm Sulaim asked Prophet Muhammad to pray for her young son Anas ibn Malik, who served him. Multiple Sahih al-Bukhari placements and an independent Sahih Muslim route preserve the same prayer: that Allah increase Anas’s wealth and children and bless what He gave him. A later Sahih Muslim report lets Anas himself look back on the result, saying that his wealth had become abundant and that his children and grandchildren were around or above one hundred. A secondary report in Jami al-Tirmidhi also links the Prophet’s supplication with unusual fruitfulness in Anas’s garden.

During the Tabuk journey, the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ riding camel went missing and some Companions went out to search for it. Zayd ibn al-Lusayt mocked the situation, saying that Muhammad ﷺ claimed prophethood and news from heaven yet did not know where his own camel was. The Prophet ﷺ answered with the event’s essential boundary: he knew only what Allah taught him. He then said Allah had shown him the camel in a valley, held by a tree through its rein. The searchers went to the indicated place and brought it back exactly as described.

Sahih al-Bukhari recounts a striking episode from the life of Abu Hurairah, who was suffering severe hunger when the Prophet Muhammad recognized his condition and took him home. A small bowl of milk had been given to the Prophet as a gift. Instead of reserving it for Abu Hurairah alone, he told him to invite the People of al-Suffah, the poor guests of Islam. One by one they drank from the same bowl until every person was satisfied. Abu Hurairah then drank repeatedly until he could drink no more, and the Prophet praised Allah, pronounced His name, and drank what remained. Jami al-Tirmidhi independently transmits the same story and calls it hasan sahih.

During the Battle of the Trench, Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah رضي الله عنه saw the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ suffering from severe hunger. At home he found only one sa‘ of barley and a small domestic animal, so he quietly invited the Prophet with a few companions. Instead, the Prophet ﷺ called the people of the Trench, blessed the dough and cooking pot, and about one thousand people ate until satisfied. Jabir swore that afterward the pot was still bubbling and the dough continued to yield bread as though the food had not diminished. Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim both preserve this extraordinary event.

Multiple sahih reports tell how Abu Talha noticed weakness in the Prophet Muhammad’s voice and understood that he was hungry. Umm Sulaim had only a few barley loaves, so Anas was sent with the small meal. The Prophet then came to Abu Talha’s house with the people who were with him. The bread was broken up, prepared with what Umm Sulaim had, and guests were admitted ten at a time. Every group ate until satisfied. One route gives seventy or eighty people, while other sahih routes give eighty; another Muslim route adds that the Prophet placed his hand on the food, mentioned Allah’s name, and food still remained afterward.

Sahih al-Bukhari preserves an eyewitness report from ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud رضي الله عنه about a journey when the Companions’ water became scarce. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked them to bring whatever water remained. A small amount was brought in a vessel; he placed his hand in it and called the people to the blessed water, explicitly saying that the blessing is from Allah. Ibn Mas‘ud then saw water springing from between the Prophet’s fingers. The report itself therefore joins the extraordinary sign with its correct meaning: a prophetic miracle and blessing granted by Allah.

On the day of al-Hudaybiyyah, the Companions faced a serious shortage of water for both drinking and ablution. Only a small amount remained in a vessel before Prophet Muhammad. When the people explained their need, he placed his hand in the vessel and water began spouting from between his fingers like springs. The group drank and performed ablution, and Jabir reported that they were about fifteen hundred. Sahih al-Bukhari preserves the event in both the Signs of Prophethood and Maghazi sections, while a related authentic report explicitly attributes the blessing to Allah.

The Qur’an presents the Isra as an extraordinary act of Allah: He took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings He blessed, to show him some of His signs. Sahih Muslim adds that the Prophet ﷺ travelled on al-Buraq, tethered it at the ring used by the prophets, entered Bayt al-Maqdis and prayed two rak‘ahs. Another sahih Muslim report places him among a gathering of prophets, specifically mentioning Musa, Isa and Ibrahim عليهم السلام, and states that when the prayer time came he led them. After Quraysh challenged his account, Allah displayed Bayt al-Maqdis before him so that he could answer their questions.

Surah al-Qamar opens with a dramatic declaration: the Hour has drawn near and the moon was split. The next verse immediately shows the response of opponents who saw a sign, turned away and called it persistent magic. Sahih reports place the event in the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: the people of Mecca asked for a sign, the moon appeared in two parts, and Ibn Mas‘ud reports that the Prophet told those present to bear witness. Another Bukhari route adds the vivid detail that the two parts appeared on opposite sides of a mountain.
