When she returned carrying her newborn child, her people confronted her with a grave accusation. Maryam did not argue; she pointed to the infant. They protested that a child in the cradle could not answer them. The Qur’an presents Prophet Zakariyya عليه السلام as an elderly servant who turned privately to his Lord when human means seemed exhausted. His bones had weakened, his hair had turned white, and his wife was barren, yet he asked Allah for a righteous heir. The Qur’an presents the rescue of Prophet Yunus from the fish as a complete sequence of trial, supplication, and divine deliverance. Yunus left in anger, boarded a heavily laden ship, and was selected in the casting of lots. A great fish then swallowed him.
