Introduction
The shrine in Bani Mansur and Al-Hawsh al-Shamali, within Al-Sadiq District in northern Basra, is locally famous as the shrine of Ahmad ibn Ali. Independent biographical and genealogical checking identifies the historical figure more precisely as Sayyid Abu Abd Allah Ahmad ibn Isa ibn Zayd ibn Ali, May Allah Have Mercy On Him, also known as Ahmad al-Mukhtafi.
