Introduction
This site at Ayn al-Tamr is not the grave of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba, Peace Be Upon Him. Local devotional tradition associates it with his arrival and prayer, while his recognized burial place is Jannat al-Baqi in Medina. It is therefore a secondary attributed maqam, not a second burial or a place to which his body was transferred.
Local heritage writing preserves only the statement that Imam al-Hasan reached the place and prayed there. No recognized early historical source was verified for a complete route, date or detailed incident. The article therefore does not add a stay, rest, miracle or specific journey narrative and keeps the attribution at the level of later local religious memory.
Ayn al-Tamr is an ancient oasis town west of Karbala, known for springs, palm groves, fortifications, old Christian settlements and desert travel routes. The wider movement between Mecca, Syria and Iraq created many layers of religious memory in the region. The maqam of Imam al-Hasan expresses local remembrance of the Ahl al-Bayt within this oasis and travel landscape.
Imam al-Hasan, Peace Be Upon Him, was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him, the son of Lady Fatima al-Zahra and Imam Ali, Peace Be Upon Them, and a leading Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt. The most relevant concise lesson from his life for this site is the reconciliation that prevented Muslim bloodshed and demonstrated wisdom, patience and concern for unity. A short introduction is sufficient here instead of repeating his complete biography.
Visitors may respect the place as a site of prayer and remembrance of the Ahl al-Bayt. An accurate account must state clearly that the established burial is in Jannat al-Baqi and that the Ayn al-Tamr connection rests on local attribution. This clarification preserves spiritual value, avoids copying the full biography from the principal record and prevents an unverified journey from becoming historical fact.
Historical / Religious Importance
The maqam connects remembrance of the Ahl al-Bayt, prayer and the historic landscape of desert travel within the local religious geography of Ayn al-Tamr. Its importance is that of a living local devotional place, not a burial site.
Its main historical value lies in the clear distinction between the full biography and burial of Imam al-Hasan in Jannat al-Baqi and the later local attribution at Ayn al-Tamr. This clarification removes public confusion and preserves the site's genuine cultural value.
