Sahih al-Bukhari 3436 and 2482 and Sahih Muslim 2550a preserve the story of Juraij, a devoted worshipper among Bani Israel. After he repeatedly remained in prayer when his mother called him, she made a supplication concerning him. Later a woman tried to seduce him, failed, became pregnant by a shepherd and falsely attributed the child to Juraij. People demolished his hermitage and humiliated him. Juraij performed ablution and prayer, then asked the infant who his father was. The child miraculously spoke and identified the shepherd, clearing Juraij of the accusation.
Later, a woman came to Juraij and tried to seduce him. He refused her and remained firm. She then went to a shepherd and became pregnant by him. When she gave birth, she falsely claimed that the child belonged to Juraij.
The accusation spread quickly. People came to Juraij’s hermitage in anger. Sahih al-Bukhari says they demolished his place of worship, dragged him out and abused him. Sahih Muslim preserves an even more vivid scene: people arrived with tools, began pulling down the hermitage and confronted him with the woman’s allegation.
Juraij did not answer the charge with panic or retaliation. He performed ablution and prayed. Then he went to the infant. In Bukhari he asked directly, “O child, who is your father?” In Muslim’s parallel report, he touched the child’s head and asked the same essential question.
Then came the extraordinary moment on which the whole accusation turned. The infant spoke and identified his father as the shepherd. The child’s answer immediately exposed the false attribution and cleared Juraij. The sahih reports place this infant among the exceptional children who spoke while still in the cradle.
The people who had just destroyed Juraij’s hermitage changed completely when they heard the child. Bukhari says they offered to rebuild his place of worship in gold. Muslim’s wording mentions gold and silver. Juraij refused the luxury and asked only that it be rebuilt from clay or earth as it had been before. He then returned to his worship.
The story therefore contains more than the single miracle of an infant speaking. It moves from a mother’s repeated call, to temptation resisted, to a devastating public accusation, to the destruction of a righteous man’s hermitage, and finally to an extraordinary testimony that overturned the charge. The strongest public account should remain within these sahih details and should not invent names for the woman, the shepherd or the child. The separate third speaking-infant episode in the longer Bukhari report is a different story and is not part of this candidate.
Conclusion
This is a high-confidence account of divine vindication. Juraij was falsely accused of fathering a child, his hermitage was destroyed and his reputation attacked; after ablution and prayer he asked the infant about his father, and the child miraculously identified the shepherd. The accusation collapsed, and Juraij chose that his hermitage be rebuilt simply in clay rather than precious metals. The event is a powerful warning against false accusation and a clear example of truth being revealed by Allah in an extraordinary way.
