परिचय
करबला के पुराने शहर में बाब अल-ख़ान और इब्न अल-हमज़ा बाज़ार के भीतर अली बिन हमज़ा बिन हसन बिन उबैदुल्लाह अल-अब्बासी रहमतुल्लाह अलैह का मान्य स्थानीय मज़ार स्थित है। इराक़ी मज़ार स्रोत इसे उनकी दफ़नगाह बताते हैं। वर्तमान इमारत हज़रत अब्बास अलैहिस्सलाम के रौज़े से लगभग पाँच सौ मीटर दूर बाब तुवैरिज के निकट है।
प्रकाशित वंश अली बिन हमज़ा बिन हसन बिन उबैदुल्लाह बिन अब्बास बिन अली बिन अबी तालिब अलैहिमुस्सलाम है। इस आधार पर वे हज़रत अब्बास बिन अली की अब्बासी अलवी शाखा से हैं, इमाम हसन मुज्तबा अलैहिस्सलाम की हसनी शाखा से नहीं। इसलिए पुराने विवरण की हसनी पहचान को ठीक किया गया है।
स्थानीय परंपरा उन्हें अबू मुहम्मद और एक सम्मानित अलवी सैयद के रूप में याद करती है। जन्म, शिक्षकों और मृत्यु की निश्चित तिथि की विस्तृत जानकारी आरंभिक स्रोतों में व्यापक रूप से सुरक्षित नहीं, लेकिन वंश का ढाँचा और करबला में मज़ार की लगातार प्रसिद्धि इसे गुमनाम क़ब्र से अलग बनाती है।
मज़ार एक व्यस्त व्यापारिक क्षेत्र में है और आसपास का बाज़ार भी सूक़ इब्न अल-हमज़ा कहलाता है। इस प्रकार मज़ार ने करबला के धार्मिक नक़्शे के साथ नगर के दैनिक नामकरण और आर्थिक जीवन पर भी प्रभाव डाला। दो केंद्रीय रौज़ों से बाहर आने वाला ज़ायर पुराने शहर में फैले छोटे अलवी मज़ारों के जाल को यहाँ देखता है।
अरबईन और अन्य ज़ियारती मौसमों में यह स्थान ज़ायरीन का स्वागत और सेवा करता है तथा इराक़ी मज़ार संस्था की निगरानी में धार्मिक गतिविधियाँ चलती हैं। इसकी महत्ता वंश, हज़रत अब्बास के रौज़े से निकटता और पुराने करबला की जीवित सामुदायिक स्मृति के मिलन में है।
