परिचय

वादी अल-सलाम क़ब्रिस्तान में आयतुल्लाह अल-उज़मा सैय्यद मुहम्मद मुहम्मद सादिक़ अल-सद्र रहमतुल्लाह अलैह की क़ब्र उनकी मुख्य दफ़नगाह और आधुनिक इराक़ी धार्मिक इतिहास का महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है। यह नजफ़ हौज़ा, सार्वजनिक जुमे की नमाज़ और राजनीतिक भय के सामने धार्मिक दृढ़ता से जुड़ी है। उनका जन्म २३ मार्च १९४३ को विद्वान सद्र परिवार में हुआ और वे शहीद अल-सद्र अल-सानी के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुए। उनकी क़ब्र वादी अल-सलाम के प्रमुख आधुनिक विद्वान मज़ारों में है।

सद्र परिवार अपना मुसवी सैय्यद वंश इमाम मूसा अल-काज़िम अलैहिस्सलाम तक पहुँचाता है और इराक़, लेबनान तथा ईरान में अनेक विद्वान पैदा कर चुका है। मुहम्मद अल-सद्र का पालन उनके पिता सैय्यद मुहम्मद सादिक़ अल-सद्र और नाना शैख़ मुहम्मद रिदा आल यासीन की देखरेख में हुआ। इस वातावरण ने घरेलू अनुशासन, इबादत, अरबी शिक्षा, फ़िक़्ह और धार्मिक विद्वान की सार्वजनिक ज़िम्मेदारी को एक साथ जोड़ा।

उन्होंने नजफ़ के हौज़ा में अध्ययन और अध्यापन किया तथा इज्तिहाद की योग्यता प्राप्त की। उनकी रचनाएँ व्यापक बौद्धिक काम दिखाती हैं: मा वरा अल-फ़िक़्ह ने सामान्य फ़िक़्ही अध्यायों से आगे के प्रश्नों की जाँच की; फ़िक़्ह अल-अख़लाक़ ने धार्मिक नियम को नैतिक आचरण से जोड़ा; और मौसूअत अल-इमाम अल-महदी ने कई भागों में प्रतीक्षित इमाम से जुड़े अक़ीदे, इतिहास, निशानियों और सामाजिक प्रश्नों का अध्ययन किया। उन्होंने उसूल अल-दीन, मानव अधिकार, उसूल अल-फ़िक़्ह और सामाजिक विचार पर भी लिखा।

१९९० के दशक का इराक़ युद्ध के प्रभाव, आर्थिक प्रतिबंध, १९९१ के विद्रोह के दमन और धार्मिक संस्थाओं की कड़ी निगरानी से घिरा था। सैय्यद मुहम्मद अल-सद्र ने आम लोगों, क़बीलों, मज़दूरों, युवाओं, ग़रीब परिवारों और प्रांतीय नगरों के निवासियों से सीधा संबंध बनाया। वे समझने योग्य भाषा में धार्मिक शिक्षा देते, प्रतिनिधि नियुक्त करते, लोगों की शिकायतें सुनते और कहते थे कि मरजइयत को समाज के वास्तविक भय और आवश्यकताएँ समझनी चाहिए।

उनका सबसे प्रसिद्ध कार्य सार्वजनिक जुमे की नमाज़ का पुनर्जीवन और विस्तार था। मस्जिद कूफ़ा और इराक़ के अनेक नगरों में साप्ताहिक सभा इबादत, नैतिक प्रशिक्षण, सामाजिक संपर्क और सार्वजनिक जागरूकता का नियमित स्थान बनी। विश्वविद्यालयी अध्ययनों में नमाज़ के अनेक क्षेत्रों तक फैलने और बड़ी भीड़ जुटने का उल्लेख है। वे इसे हौज़ा और समाज के बीच संबंध मानते थे, जबकि बास सरकार स्वतंत्र सभाओं को अपने नियंत्रण के लिए बढ़ती चुनौती समझने लगी।

उनके ख़ुत्बे तक़वा, तौबा, पारिवारिक ज़िम्मेदारी, ग़रीबों की देखभाल, अत्याचार का विरोध, इराक़ की धार्मिक पहचान और शांतिपूर्ण सामाजिक एकता पर बल देते थे। वे लोगों की भाषा में बोलते और उन सरकारी तथा धार्मिक आदतों की आलोचना करते जो ज्ञान को समाज से अलग करती थीं। अंतिम दौर में कफ़न पहनकर ख़ुत्बा देना मौन के बजाय मृत्यु का सामना करने की तैयारी का प्रतीक बना; ऐतिहासिक महत्व प्रमाणित ख़ुत्बों और उनके चारों ओर वास्तविक ख़तरे में है।

शुक्रवार १९ फ़रवरी १९९९ को मस्जिद कूफ़ा में पैंतालीसवाँ जुमे का ख़ुत्बा देने के बाद वे नजफ़ में घर की ओर लौटे। उसी शाम सशस्त्र हमले में वे और उनके दो पुत्र सैय्यद मुस्तफ़ा अल-सद्र तथा सैय्यद मुअम्मल अल-सद्र मारे गए। आधुनिक और बाद के अध्ययनों में हत्या को बास सुरक्षा वातावरण और उनके बढ़ते स्वतंत्र प्रभाव से सरकार के भय से जोड़ा गया है, यद्यपि कार्रवाई के सूक्ष्म विवरण और व्यक्तिगत ज़िम्मेदारी पर भिन्न रिपोर्टें हैं।

उनकी हत्या के बाद इराक़ के अनेक नगरों में शोक, विरोध, गिरफ़्तारी और अशांति हुई। उनके बाद जुमे की नमाज़, जनधार्मिक संपर्क, शिष्यों और प्रतिनिधियों का जाल तथा व्यापक आंदोलन जारी रहा और २००३ के बाद भी प्रभावी बना। उनकी विरासत को केवल बाद की दलगत राजनीति तक सीमित नहीं करना चाहिए; इसमें फ़िक़्ही लेखन, नैतिक प्रशिक्षण, हौज़ा को वंचित समुदायों के निकट लाने का प्रयास और भय के समय सार्वजनिक सत्यवचन भी शामिल है।

वादी अल-सलाम में दफ़न ने इस आधुनिक विद्वान को नजफ़ के सदियों पुराने पवित्र और शैक्षिक भूगोल से जोड़ दिया। ज़ायर यहाँ ज्ञान, साहस, इबादत, सेवा और बलिदान याद करता है, जबकि शोधकर्ता क़ब्र को हौज़ा, बास शासन, सार्वजनिक धर्म, राजनीतिक दमन और आधुनिक इराक़ी सामाजिक आंदोलनों के संगम के रूप में पढ़ता है। स्थायी शिक्षा यह है कि ज्ञान नैतिक ज़िम्मेदारी, समझने योग्य मार्गदर्शन, कमज़ोरों की देखभाल और व्यक्तिगत साहस से जुड़कर अधिक अर्थपूर्ण बनता है।
