آرامگاه کمیل بن زیاد نخعی، رحمت خدا بر او باد، در ناحیه ثویه میان نجف و کوفه یکی از زیارتگاههای مهم تاریخی و عبادی است. نام او در حافظه اسلامی به عنوان یار نزدیک امام علی بن ابی طالب علیه السلام، از شخصیتهای کوفه نخستین و راوی مرتبط با دعای کمیل شهرت دارد.
نام کامل او کمیل بن زیاد بن نهیک نخعی کوفی ثبت شده است. او از قبیله نخع بود؛ قبیلهای با ریشه یمنی که اعضایش در تاریخ آغازین اسلام در کوفه نقشهای مهمی داشتند. فضای علمی و سیاسی کوفه در شکلگیری یاد تاریخی او اثر گذاشت.
کمیل از شاگردان نزدیک و یاران وفادار امام علی علیه السلام شمرده میشود. گزارشها او را با آموزش، اندرز و حکمت درونی امام پیوند میدهند. ازاینرو نامش تنها با سیاست همراه نشد، بلکه با دعا، وفاداری و تربیت معنوی نیز درآمیخت.
مشهورترین انتساب عبادی مربوط به او دعای کمیل است. در سنت امامیه، کمیل درباره دعای خضر از امام علی علیه السلام پرسید. امام دعا را به او آموخت و زمانهای خواندن آن را توضیح داد. این دعا به سبب انتقال از راه کمیل به نام او شهرت یافت.
محتوای دعا بر خوانندگان اثر عمیق میگذارد. در آن اعتراف به ناتوانی، گناه، نادانی و پشیمانی، همراه با امید، بیم و درخواست رحمت خدا دیده میشود. به همین دلیل هنوز در شبهای جمعه، محافل دعا و هنگام توبه خوانده میشود. از طریق این دعا، نام کمیل وارد زندگی عبادی مردم عادی شده است.
زندگی سیاسی او نیز اهمیت دارد. عراق در دوره اموی با مراقبت حکومتی، شورشها، درگیریهای قبیلهای و حکومت سخت حجاج بن یوسف روبهرو بود. کمیل در شمار کسانی یاد شده که حتی زیر فشار، وفاداری خود به امام علی علیه السلام را ترک نکردند.
گزارشهای تاریخی میگویند حجاج در پی او بود. برخی نقلها بیان میکنند کمیل خود را معرفی کرد تا قبیله و وابستگانش آسیب نبینند. هنگامی که حجاج بر او فشار آورد، از پیوند و ارادت خود به امام علی دست نکشید. در همین شرایط حدود سال ۸۲ هجری کشته شد.
مرگ او در حافظه دینی کوفه و نجف به نماد وفاداری، پایداری و التزام به حق تبدیل شد. این واقعه تنها مرگ یک فرد نبود، بلکه نشانه سختگیری سیاسی آن دوره و آزمونهایی بود که پیروان وفادار اهل بیت با آن روبهرو بودند.
موقعیت ثویه اهمیت دارد، زیرا بخشی از جغرافیای مقدس میان نجف و کوفه است؛ جایی که حرم امام علی علیه السلام، مسجد کوفه، وادی السلام و حافظه اسلام نخستین به هم میرسند. آرامگاه کمیل زائران را با دعا، وفاداری، دانش و فداکاری پیوند میدهد.
برای پژوهشگران، مکان چندین مسیر مطالعه را میگشاید: قبیله نخع در کوفه، یاران امام علی، انتقال دعای کمیل، فشار سیاسی اموی و جغرافیای زیارتی عراق. ازاینرو هم برای زیارت و هم برای پژوهش جدی تاریخی اهمیت دارد.

این آرامگاه یاد یاران امام علی علیه السلام، حافظه تابعین کوفه و تاریخ عبادی دعای کمیل را در یک مکان گرد میآورد. شخصیت کمیل بن زیاد، رحمت خدا بر او باد، دانش، دعا، وفاداری و پایداری سیاسی را به هم پیوند میدهد.
ناحیه ثویه به سبب قرار گرفتن میان نجف و کوفه معنای ویژهای دارد. زائر در این جغرافیا با یاد امام علی علیه السلام، مسجد کوفه، وادی السلام و تاریخ آغازین اسلام روبهرو میشود.
مکان از آن رو نیز مهم است که دعای کمیل هنوز یک عمل عبادی زنده است. بنابراین آرامگاه تنها قبری تاریخی نیست، بلکه حافظه یک دعا، یک استاد، یک شاگرد و آزمونهای یک دوره را نیز در خود دارد.
