🌿 نسب و پیشینه خانوادگی

فرزند عقیل بن ابی‌طالب رضی الله عنه، نوه ابوطالب، برادرزاده امام علی علیه‌السلام و پسرعموی امام حسین علیه‌السلام بود. نام مادرش در منابع نسبی به صورت‌های عُلَیّه، حِلْیَه یا خَلیلَه آمده است. برخی گزارش‌های نسب‌شناختی ازدواج او با رقیه دختر امام علی علیها‌السلام را ذکر می‌کنند؛ فهرست فرزندان یکسان نیست و نام‌هایی چون عبدالله، محمد و ابراهیم در آن دیده می‌شود.

⚔️ نقش در نهضت کربلا

نماینده و سفیر مورد اعتماد امام حسین علیه‌السلام در کوفه؛ بیعت‌های کوفیان را ارزیابی کرد، نتیجه را به امام گزارش داد، پس از فروپاشی حمایت سیاسی مقاومت نمود و پیش از عاشورا در کوفه به شهادت رسید.

حضرت مسلم بن عقیل علیه‌السلام فرزند عقیل بن ابی‌طالب رضی الله عنه و پسرعموی امام حسین علیه‌السلام بود. انتساب هاشمی و عقیلی، شجاعت، امانت و وفاداری دینی او را برای مأموریت حساس کوفه شایسته ساخت. منابع همه جزئیات آغاز زندگی، تاریخ تولد و خانواده او را به یک اندازه حفظ نکرده‌اند. آثار نسب‌شناختی درباره نام مادر و شمار فرزندان اختلاف دارند. استوارترین هویت تاریخی او بر خاندان عقیل، خویشاوندی با امام حسین علیه‌السلام و مأموریت مورد اعتماد استوار است. پس از مرگ معاویه و به خلافت رسیدن یزید، مردم کوفه نامه‌های فراوانی برای امام حسین علیه‌السلام فرستادند. امام برای سنجش واقعیت اوضاع، مسلم را به عنوان برادر دینی، پسرعمو و نماینده مورد اعتماد خود اعزام کرد و به او فرمان داد با تقوا، پنهان‌کاری و نرمش رفتار کند و ببیند آیا مردم حقیقتا بر تصمیمی واحد هستند. در آغاز سفر، دو راهنما بر اثر سختی راه جان باختند. مسلم درباره این رخداد برای امام نوشت و در مورد ادامه مأموریت پرسید، اما امام دستور داد راه را ادامه دهد. در عبارت و تفسیر این مکاتبه اختلاف وجود دارد، ولی رسیدن او به کوفه و انجام مأموریت ثابت است. در کوفه نخست در خانه مختار بن ابی‌عبید ثقفی اقامت کرد و با خطرناک‌تر شدن شرایط به خانه هانی بن عروه رضی الله عنه رفت. هوادارانی از گروه‌های گوناگون کوفه با او بیعت کردند و مسلم به امام حسین علیه‌السلام نوشت که جمع بزرگی برای آمدن امام آمادگی نشان می‌دهد. شمار دقیق بیعت‌کنندگان در نقل‌ها متفاوت است. حکومت اموی عبیدالله بن زیاد را به کوفه فرستاد. او با تهدید، فشار بر سران قبایل، جاسوسی و نفوذ سیاسی شبکه ارتباطی نهضت را درهم شکست. جاسوسی به نام معقل در ظاهر به عنوان هوادار وارد حلقه یاران شد و ارتباط‌ها و محل اقامت مسلم در خانه هانی را به والی گزارش کرد. پس از بازداشت هانی، مسلم یاران خود را فراخواند و به سوی کاخ والی حرکت کرد. این قیام در هشتم ذی‌حجه سال شصت هجری آغاز شد. در ابتدا گروه بزرگی گرد آمد، اما سران قبایل، تهدیدهای حکومتی و فشار بر خانواده‌ها آنان را به تدریج پراکنده کرد و مسلم تا شامگاه تقریباً تنها ماند. در جست‌وجوی پناه در کوچه‌های کوفه به خانه بانویی صالح به نام طوعه رسید. او آب و پناه داد. خبر حضور مسلم از طریق پسر طوعه به مأموران رسید، خانه محاصره شد و مسلم پیش از دستگیری مقاومتی سخت نشان داد. او با زخم‌های بسیار و در پی وعده‌ای برای امان یا گفت‌وگو به کاخ والی برده شد. مسلم درخواست‌هایی درباره بدهی، دفن پیکر و هشدار دادن به امام حسین علیه‌السلام درباره کوفه مطرح کرد. به فرمان عبیدالله بن زیاد او را به بالای کاخ بردند و به شهادت رساندند. تاریخ مشهور شهادت، نهم ذی‌حجه سال شصت هجری است. هانی بن عروه رضی الله عنه نیز در همان موج سرکوب کشته شد. منابع تاریخی از فرستادن سرهای آن دو به نزد یزید و رفتار بی‌حرمت با پیکرهایشان سخن می‌گویند، اما این مقاله حقیقت سیاسی و اخلاقی واقعه را بدون پرداختن به جزئیات جسمانی غیرضروری بیان می‌کند. خبر شهادت مسلم و هانی در راه به امام حسین علیه‌السلام رسید. این خبر فاصله میان نامه‌های پیشین کوفه و واقعیت سیاسی تازه را آشکار کرد. مأموریت مسلم نشان داد که حمایت زبانی، اگر در برابر ترس، فشار و آزمون عملی پایدار نماند، به وفاداری واقعی تبدیل نمی‌شود. این پرونده به مدفن شناخته‌شده حضرت مسلم بن عقیل علیه‌السلام در مجموعه مسجد بزرگ کوفه پیوند دارد. برای این شخصیت نشان جداگانه‌ای در محل جمعی شهدای کربلا ساخته نمی‌شود؛ زیرا مکان زیارتی مستقل او در کوفه شناخته شده و همین پیوند از ایجاد قبر یا نشان تکراری جلوگیری می‌کند.

🏛️ اهمیت تاریخی

اهمیت تاریخی حضرت مسلم بن عقیل علیه‌السلام در این است که مأموریت او مقدمه سیاسی مستقیم کربلا شد. از خلال گزارش او می‌توان مسیر نامه‌های کوفیان و بیعت‌های آغازین تا واکنش حکومت، جاسوسی و فشار قبایلی را مشاهده کرد. او تنها پیام‌رسان نبود، بلکه نماینده مجاز امام حسین علیه‌السلام بود. او وضعیت را سنجید، بیعت‌ها را پذیرفت، گزارش فرستاد و هنگامی که حرکت از نظر سیاسی فروپاشید، مسئولیت خود را ترک نکرد. گرد آمدن و سپس پراکنده شدن هواداران پس از بازداشت هانی، ضعف جامعه سیاسی کوفه را در برابر ترس، فشار رهبران قبایل و نظارت حکومتی آشکار می‌کند. تنهایی مسلم فقط شکست یک فرد نبود، بلکه گواه تاریخی اثر این نیروها بود. پناه دادن طوعه، مقاومت پایانی مسلم و کوشش او برای هشدار دادن به امام، نمونه‌های ماندگار امانت، وفاداری و مسئولیت‌اند. شهادت او پیش از عاشورا رخ داد، اما در تاریخ اخلاقی کربلا جایگاهی مرکزی دارد. پیوند این پرونده با مدفن شناخته‌شده او در مسجد بزرگ کوفه، جغرافیای زیارتی مستقل حضرت مسلم علیه‌السلام را حفظ می‌کند و از ایجاد قبر یا نشان تکراری در محل جمعی شهدای کربلا جلوگیری می‌نماید.

Al-Tabari's account, largely through the Abu Mikhnaf corpus, and al-Irshad preserve Muslim's appointment, journey, pledges in Kufa, transfer from al-Mukhtar's house to Hani's house, Ma'qil's espionage, the dispersal on 8 Dhu al-Hijjah, refuge with Taw'a, capture and execution on 9 Dhu al-Hijjah 60 AH. Parallel later narratives are not counted as independent corroboration when they share this earlier material.
