🌿 वंश और पारिवारिक पृष्ठभूमि

वे बनी जाबिर से थे, जो हमदान क़बीले की एक शाखा थी। सूचियों में उनका नाम मालिक बिन अब्द, मालिक बिन अब्दुल्लाह या मालिक बिन अब्द बिन सुरैअ मिलता है। हज़रत सैफ़ बिन अल-हारिस बिन सुरैअ को उनका पैतृक चचेरा भाई और मातृ-पक्ष से भाई दोनों बताया गया है।

Al-Tabari preserves Malik and Sayf as the two young men of Banu Jabir, related as paternal cousins and brothers through their mother. The early name list records Malik ibn Abdullah ibn Suray, while the battle account uses Malik ibn Abd ibn Suray; both forms are retained. Their dialogue, farewell, and joint martyrdom are early. The report that they came from Kufa during the pre-battle period and the detail of mutual back-protection belong to later biographical or maqtal tradition. The placement after Hanzala found in some later presentations is not imposed on the early al-Tabari sequence. Exact killers, casualty totals, route details, and a separate grave are not asserted.
