🌿 वंश और पारिवारिक पृष्ठभूमि

वे किन्दा की शाखा बनू बहदला से थे। उनका नाम यज़ीद इब्न ज़ियाद इब्न मुहासिर सुरक्षित है, जबकि कुछ रिवायतों में मुहाजिर या मिलता-जुलता रूप आता है। अबू अल-शअथा उनकी प्रसिद्ध कुनियत थी। माता, पत्नी, संतान और आयु का विवरण सुरक्षित नहीं है।

Abu Mikhnaf's report, preserved in al-Tabari and later historical compilations, supports the stable identity of Yazid ibn Ziyad ibn Muhasir, Abu al-Sha'tha al-Kindi of Banu Bahdala. It preserves his archery, one hundred arrows, Imam Husayn's prayer, rajaz and martyrdom. The wording states that only five arrows fell to the ground; Abu al-Sha'tha then said that he was certain he had killed five men. Reports differ over whether he was already with Imam Husayn before al-Hurr's interception or initially came with Umar ibn Sa'd and later changed sides. The final allegiance and battlefield actions are stable.
