Al-Baladhuri directly supports Ammar's intended attack on Ibn Ziyad at al-Nukhayla, his escape, and his joining Imam Husayn. Ibn Hajar preserves the fuller paternal chain and states that Ammar had idrak, fought with Imam Ali, and was killed with Imam Husayn; the entry belongs to the section of those who reached the Prophet's lifetime without a verified personal sighting.
