Jabala ibn Ali al-Shaybani, May Allah Be Pleased With Him, appears in one of the earliest surviving name-lists of the martyrs of Karbala. The account of al-Fadil ibn al-Zubayr al-Kufi places him among the men of Banu Shayban ibn Tha'laba who were killed with Imam Husayn, Peace Be Upon Him. This early notice provides the principal historical basis for his participation and martyrdom. His Shaybani affiliation connects him with the wider tribal framework of Bakr ibn Wa'il, while the name of his father, Ali, is explicitly preserved in his own name. This limited but strong genealogical identification provides a reliable core profile. Later biographical and maqtal literature describes him as a courageous Kufan and associates him with the Kufan movement of Muslim ibn Aqil, Peace Be Upon Him. Later biography states that he first stood with Muslim ibn Aqil, Peace Be Upon Him, in the Kufan rising and then reached Imam Husayn, Peace Be Upon Him. The early list records his martyrdom among the Shaybani supporters of Imam Husayn, Peace Be Upon Him. Later tradition transmitted in Ibsar al-Ayn and from al-Manaqib places him in the first general assault; the central martyrdom and the later battlefield ordering therefore remain distinguished by source level. Jabala's memory represents Shaybani and Kufan participation among the loyal supporters at Karbala. This atlas does not accept or reject a report solely because of an author’s school affiliation. Abu Mikhnaf was an early Kufan collector whose material was also preserved by broad Muslim historians such as al-Tabari; Shaykh al-Mufid was an Imami scholar who used earlier historical material in al-Irshad. Each claim is presented after considering chronological proximity, transmission, shared-source dependence, and comparison with other works.
